Sleep Return With First New Music in Eight Years and Announce Fall North American Tour

Sleep have released their first new music in eight years with the arrival of "Have Spacesuit Will Travel," while also announcing an extensive North American tour set to take place this fall. The release marks the band's first recorded material since 2018's The Sciences and introduces a new lineup following the departure of co-founding guitarist Matt Pike.

The current version of Sleep features co-founding vocalist and bassist Al Cisneros alongside Melvins drummer Dale Crover and guitarist Bubba Dupree of Void. According to Cisneros, the chemistry between the new members was immediately apparent during the band's first jam session. The newly released track, "Have Spacesuit Will Travel," offers fans their first look at this new chapter of the influential stoner metal band.

Alongside the single, Sleep have announced a North American tour beginning September 8 in San Diego and wrapping up November 17 in Washington, D.C. The run includes dates across the United States and Canada.

Cisneros is also preparing to make his authorial debut with the upcoming Sleep Comic Book, which follows the adventures of the Marijuanaut through Planet Iommia and expands on themes familiar to longtime fans of the band's mythology. The comic is available for preorder through Third Man Books and is scheduled to ship in September, with bundle options including exclusive merchandise and a flexi-disc version of "Have Spacesuit Will Travel." ..... Whatever the heck that all means.
