Dance Gavin Dance Drop New Version of “The Robot With Human Hair, Pt. 3,” Announce Tree City Sessions 3

Dance Gavin Dance have shared a reworked version of “The Robot With Human Hair, Pt. 3,” taken from their upcoming release Tree City Sessions 3. The album is set to arrive digitally on May 22 via Rise Records, with physical editions following in June.

The track originally appeared on the band’s 2008 self-titled album and has been revisited as part of the ongoing Tree City Sessions series, which highlights different eras of the band’s catalog through updated recordings. Vocalist Andrew Wells noted that the series allows each lineup to reinterpret older material while bringing in their own style, describing the process of revisiting this track as a way to honor its original version while adding a new perspective.

Formed in Sacramento in 2005, Dance Gavin Dance have built a reputation for blending post-hardcore, metalcore, and experimental elements into a distinct sound. Their current lineup includes Wells alongside Jon Mess, Will Swan, and Matthew Mingus. Over the years, the band has maintained a strong presence in alternative music, supported by consistent chart performance and a dedicated fanbase.

Tree City Sessions 3 continues the band’s retrospective approach while they remain active on the road, with a North American tour currently underway and additional festival appearances scheduled throughout the year.
