Megadeth Retires, Marilyn Manson Chaos in Mexico + New I Prevail & Wind Walkers | The Pozer Press #1

Welcome to the very first episode of The Pozer Press! Every week I’ll be breaking down the biggest headlines, wildest stories, and most exciting new releases in the metal scene.

This week’s biggest story is massive: Megadeth have officially announced their retirement. Dave Mustaine confirmed that the band is working on their final studio album and will be heading out on a global farewell tour in 2026. After four decades as one of thrash metal’s “Big Four,” the band is choosing to go out on their own terms.

We’re also diving into I Prevail’s brand-new single “Annihilate Me,” which is already being called the heaviest track of their career. After the departure of clean vocalist Brian Burkheiser earlier this year, fans have been watching closely to see how the band would adapt... and so far, the new material proves they’re more than ready to evolve. Their upcoming album, dropping September 19 via Fearless Records, looks like it could be a career-defining release.

And if you thought that was enough chaos, Marilyn Manson’s recent booking at the San Luis Potosí state fair in Mexico sparked protests- including someone leaving a severed cow’s head on the steps of a cathedral. The backlash connects to both his controversial performances and the numerous abuse allegations that have surrounded him for years. We’ll unpack the bizarre story, the governor’s defense of the booking as “cultural justice”.

Finally, I’m so excited to feature Wind Walkers as this week’s artist spotlight. Their new single “Silk & Static” blends glitchy electronics with crushing riffs, and vocalist Trevor Borg shared that the song was inspired by his own ADHD diagnosis and the feeling of living with constant “static.” Their new EP I Don’t Belong Here drops October 3rd via Fearless Records, and they’re hitting the road with Our Last Night and Grayscale this fall. I’ll be at their show later this week, so you already know I’m beyond hyped.
