Under the banner of modern melodic metal, the Finnish band known as WHAT AWAITS US is pushing the boundaries of this genre with its exceptional musical fusion. Combining melancholic melodies with powerful guitar riffs, the band draws inspiration from the metalcore and melodic deathcore sub-genres, creating a sound that's entirely their own.
In 2014, What Awaits Us made their mark by releasing their self-produced debut album, "Awake," via Sliptrick Records. The album received praise from both critics and fans alike, solidifying the band's place in the metal scene. Their journey continued in 2018 with the release of an EP titled "Anomaly," which introduced a more technical, faster, and brutal facet of their music.
The year 2021 marked the dawn of a new era for the band, as they tirelessly worked on fresh material and unleashed it upon the world. In August, they treated their audience to a self-produced and fully re-recorded version of their track "Ascend." Just a couple of months later, in October, they dropped a brand-new song titled "Remedy," which was expertly mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (of Odeholm Audio / Vildhjarta / Humanity's Last Breath fame), showcasing their dedication to delivering top-notch music.
